Easy, have a cookout and use everything in the fridge that will spoil otherwise.

Yup. And that's an excellent way to get the neighborhood together and see if anyone needs immediate help.

This is why I love my gas stove -- as long as the line stays live, I can cook by lighting a match. I also have a fireplace, so I could cook over burning wood if necessary. The hotdogs are better that way.
